Femmes for Freedom is initiating a broadly supported international movement to combat marital captivity with our campaign Freedom is our Right.
Building on our Dutch best practices, we push for legal and social change that advances SDG 5 (Gender Equality), and strengthens both SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions). Together with communities, activists and partner organisations, we raise awareness and education on the consequences of marital captivity, advocate for legal reforms and compliance with CEDAW, and build alliances across Europe to outlaw marital captivity.
But we can’t do this alone. Freedom is our Right is more than a campaign, it is a movement for equality, justice and human dignity. Join us in our fight against marital captivity and stand with women everywhere who demand the freedom to live, love and decide for themselves!
